From the music mecca of Atlanta, GA, comes another talented native with soulful vocals, heartfelt lyrics and a sincere delivery that rivals any of the ATL’s most storied vocalists. Crystal Stanley, musically known as the vibrant 33 Crystal Notes, combines her choir background with equal parts Southern sass and sweetness for an unforgettable musical sound. Notes, natural love of music began early as she recalls singing Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up Now Tell Me” at the tender age of 4, while reciting her favorite songs from the movie Little Shop of Horrors as a precocious 6-year-old. When recalling her earliest influences, there is no shortage of legendary divas who inspired her:
“I would have to say Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson, but most importantly I fell in love with R&B when I heard Whitney Houston, and Deborah Cox. I dabble with blues so I fell hard for Etta James.”
After learning to read music at age 7, Notes early musical education would continue at Margaret Fain Elementary where she participated in chorus and was selected for State Honor Choir. While attending UsherMiddle and Turner Middle, Notes played in the orchestra, learning to play both clarinet and piano. Upon reaching Westlake High School, she was not only composing and arranging sheet music, but Notes also named section leader, student director, and voted “Miss Band” at homecoming. These distinctions led to her receiving a full music scholarship at Miles College.
With an exceptional foundation in music, 33 Crystal Notes, sought to explore her sound as a singer and shape the passionate songs she was writing on her own. A chance encounter with ATL super-producer Luney Tunez (Rihanna, Future, Kevin Gates) at Throwbacks Lounge, would lead to a series of studio collaborations that presented a major breakthrough for Notes:
“I was moved by Luney’s grind as an artist and producer, I started following him and his work. I contacted him on Facebook, told him I was a singer and that I was looking for a particular sound. When I told him I do a little writing, he sent me a track and told me to write a hook which actually turned out to be my debut single "Kiss Me."
With the support of the Rock Harder DJs coalition as well as V-103 radio personality Wanda Smith, “Kiss Me" began playing in Atlanta night clubs including a spotlight performance at the Uptown Comedy Corner.
This invaluable exposure gained Notes a steadily growing fanbase as well as recognition from her peers and more studio sessions. Through her work with talented producers and engineers such as Luney Tunez, Paul Shawty and Bolo The Producer (Producer of Silento’s smash record “Whip Nae Nae”), 33 Crystal Notes has fine-tuned her melodic blend of harmony and passion in her records.
In 2013, after crafting Rihanna’s RIAA Gold-certified “Loveeeeeee Song” featuring Atlanta superstar Future, Luney Tunez tapped Notes, to work on potential placements through his Beat Juug LLC/Peer Music publishing deal both with demo vocals and lyrics. Working alongside Luney and the Beat Juug team has allowed Crystal to grow even more as both a songwriter and an artist, as well as create some undeniable hit records of her own.
“My goals are getting my music on the radio, earning a writing deal as a vocalist, and traveling the world promoting the innovative music style.”
With her forthcoming EP and lead single “I AM Ready”, “Straight Out GA” & “No Gravity” released in 2021, 33 Crystal Notes has never been closer to the goals that she has been singing about her entire life.
